This I believe

Each and every one of us teach others how to treat us on a daily basis.

By taking control and modifying your own behaviors and attitudes, you can begin to teach the people in your life what behaviors you will and will not accept.

What an empowering action.

Our behaviors and actions have taught people what we expect and what we feel we deserve.

A few examples of this behavior:
  • If you ask someone to be honest with you and subsequently become defensive when they do, what happens? Your action (or reaction) might train someone to be dishonest with you.
  • By not speaking up to bad behavior or allowing inappropriate behavior to continue in your presence, you are teaching those around you that it is okay with you to continue behaving badly toward or around you.
The first step towards changing the way others treat you is to show them how you want to be treated.

Decide today what lessons you want to put out there in the world—in your universe—so that you can transform your life and transform your relationships.

We all have heard of the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".  The same applies when you are working to improve how you are treated by others.

When in doubt, put yourself in the other person's shoes and analyze your actions. Don’t do anything you would be offended by. If you use this litmus test and keep the best of intentions, training others can be a learning process that improves your environment while transforming your life.

Pass this lesson on to those in need - practice this daily - teach others how to respect themselves as well as others!

You are so right! Boundaries in our lives are very important - we do teach others how to treat us in many ways!
